Now step back and look at the big picture. If you had most of your “x’s” in the Wind area, we can pull you back to balance pretty quickly with lifestyle and routine modifications. Follow the plan for the Wind for a few days>>>

If you had some x’s in the Wind and then some in the Fire, now you should follow the plan for the FIRE for a week or more until symptoms decrease>>>

If you had “x’s” in all categories including the Earth, we are going to have to really spend some time pulling you back to balance. Your health needs to be a primary focus for you because you are heading down a really ugly path of feeling bad. To immediately relieve some of your symptoms, follow the plan for the EARTH>>>

I was driving in my car this morning listening to National Public Radio and was absolutely shocked to learn that the number of states where nearly one-third of the adults is obese has tripled. CLICK HERE FOR STORY. That's 1 in 3 adults! It's an epidemic of poor choice making and to be quite honest, lack of choice.

It's hard to eat healthy in America. We don't even know how to do it. Let's not even mention how stressed we are and pressed for time. It's easy to grab fast food for lunch, a candy bar from the vending machine at 2pm when we crash and processed food for dinner. Manufacturers are very convincing that we are making good healthy choices buying their packaged crud fortified with vitamins, minerals and "fiber". It makes me so mad.

It's outrageous. Fast food is not food. I don't care if you choose the salad or the baked potato. I was an auditor with a major accounting firm for 9 years before I was a mom and a yogi. I've been through the manufacturing facilities of major fast food chains. The lettuce is shipped in on a truck, shredded in a factory, packaged in an enormous plastic bag, stuck on a shelf and finally shipped to your local fast food chain. When that lettuce hits your mouth, it's dead or what we call "tamasic" in Ayurveda. You don't even want to know about the hard boiled eggs or the juice that the cheeseburger patties float around in until they get to you.

There is no love in that food and let's be honest, we eat to feel a sense of love. We eat to feel love especially when we are stressed. The reason a cheeseburger, fries and a milkshake taste so good and we crave them is because they are considered a "sweet" taste in Ayurveda. They ground you. They make you feel loved. It's a temporary fix for whatever it is you are going through in the moment.

I would like to teach you a different way to manage your stress levels. I would like to teach you a different way to ground yourself and to realize love. Join me this fall for the Elemental Immersion. I will take you on a 28 day journey that will radically change your view of yourself, your world and food. You will lose weight, connect with your soul and fell absolutely vibrant at month's end. It is one month of your life that will change your entire life. You will never be able to look at things the same again. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

If you have a friend or loved one in need of stress management, weight management or simply "life management", forward this blog to them. Give them the opportunity to learn how to make better choices.

Your Liver, Digestion and Stress

Ayurveda teaches that all disease stems from poor digestion. Your liver is a vital part of the digestive process. It has over 500,000 functions and can largely be thought of as an "oil filter" for your body. It filters up to 2 quarts of blood each minute. The liver transforms food into nutrients that feed your cells. It builds metabolic enzymes. It breaks down hormones, converts vitamins and minerals and produces bile, cholesteral, estrogen and immune substances. It stores blood and glycogen and regulates blood sugar. It is believed that due to poorly functioning livers, we suffer from arthritis, heart disease, cancer, hormonal imbalances, depression, anxiety, suppressed immune function and weight gain. Thyroid function is directly linked to the liver.

The liver's job is to analyze every single thing that you put in your body. It decides if the substance is toxic or nontoxic. This includes analyzing, not just food, but atmospheric toxins such as cigarette smoke and other chemicals. It also includes viruses, parasites, fungi, allergens and unhealthy bacteria.

If your liver is overworked because of the pollution you are consuming, it will not filter as efficiently and you may suffer from high cholesterol, aches and pains, acne, psoriasis, allergies, fibromyalgia, pms, mood swings, sluggishness, depression, bloating, weight gain, high blood pressure, constipation and much more. The good news is that your liver regenerates! Time to detox.

If you are suffering from any of these symptoms, you need to cleanse your liver.

  • Slowly eliminate caffeine, alcohol, acetametafin, dairy, refined carbs, fried foods and red meat.
  • Choose fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Choose beans, nuts and whole grains.
  • Choose water over flavored drinks and sodas. Drink room temperature water
  • Take a Neem supplement twice a day. (this can substitute your acetamefin)
  • Eat three meals a day. A meal is the size of two fists.
  • Walk or practice yoga daily.
Routine and stress can greatly influence the functioning of your digestive system. Do the following:

  • Meditate Daily...begin with 10 minutes each day.
  • Go to bed between 10 and 11 pm. Arise between 6 and 7 am
  • Read something uplifting in bed. Turn off the TV.
  • Spend Time in Silence. Drive with the radio off. Keep your TV off.
  • Surround yourself with pleasant and supportive people
  • Journal
